Dragon Bridge: A Dragon That Actually Breathes Fire

The Dragon Bridge over the River Han is probably the signature of Da Nang city. Opened in 2013, it is probably the highlight of any tourist who comes to Da Nang. You can see the dragon on the bridge even from afar, with the mythical beast boasting its glory. 

 

You can spend two hours or less at the Dragon Bridge, depending on when you visit. The best time to visit is at night when the bridge is lit up and the fire-breathing and water-spouting shows take place. 

The fire show last for only about 7 minutes, so make sure to come on time! It starts at 9 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Even though the Dragon Bridge is at its best form during the evening due to the lights, you may also visit it during the day, especially on a bright sunny day. The blue skies and golden color during the golden hour will mesmerize you. On top of that, it won’t be too crowded either. 

 

 

Six Other Bridges: Simple, Yet Elegant

Apart from the Dragon Bridge, Da Nang is home to some other bridges worth visiting. However, if you are expecting something mindblowing from these bridges, you might be disappointed. 

Consider these bridges as a part of the local heritage of Da Nang, and soak in the local history they signify, rather than thinking of them as regular tourist attractions. 

These six bridges connect the main city with the peninsula. 

 

 

Han River Bridge

The Han River Bridge was the first-ever swing bridge designed by Vietnamese architects. It connects the Quang Nam province with the Da Nang Bay. 

The Han River Bridge holds a special spot in the heart of the locals, as it was constructed with the help of the local community in 2000. 

We recommend you visit the Han River Bridge in the evening so that you can enjoy the buzzing colors on both sides of the bridge. 

 

Tran Thi Ly Bridge

This is the southern-most bridge in Da Nang. This cable-stayed bridge connects Hai Chau district, Son Tra district, Ngu Hanh Son district in the city of Da Nang. 

The Tran Thi Ly Bridge was constructed and inaugurated at the same time as the more popular Dragon Bridge.

Known for its super cool light show every night, photographers must not miss their chance to take some great shots! 

 

Nguyen Van Troi Bridge

Just right next to the Tran Thi Ly bridge is a walking bridge, and it’s the oldest bridge in Da Nang; in fact, the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in all of Vietnam. 

Built by an American Company in 1965, this pedestrian bridge looks very unique. With iron pipes and distinct yellow railings, the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge is very Instagrammable. 

On one side of the bank, there is a beautiful promenade with lots of colorful flowers and photo spots and a picture gallery, all the way to the Dragon Bridge. You should check it out for sure! 

 

Thuan Phuoc Bridge

If you are looking forward to renting a scooter and enjoying the beauty of the Han River, the Thuan Phuoc Bridge is the perfect fit for you.

This is the longest cable-stayed suspension bridge in Vietnam, located in a special position. 

It forms a continuous traffic system from Hai Van tunnel to Son Tra peninsula. Thanks to the Thuan Phuoc Bridge, the Son Tra – Hoi An tourist route was possible.

 

Tien Son Bridge

Out of all the bridges in Da Nang, most probably the Tien Son Bridge is the simplest. It has nothing fancy about it, but it serves a very important purpose. 

Opened in 2004, this 529-meter-long bridge serves as an expansion of the Tien Sa port. it is also a major bridge on Highway 14 of the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) in the trans-Asia road system. 

 

The Love Pier

The Love Pier is Vietnam’s version of the world-famous Pont des Arts.

If you had it on your bucket list to stick a lock with you and your beloved’s name in Pont des Arts, the Love Pier can be the perfect alternative as Pont des Arts is now closed. 

During the weekends, the bridge is packed with visitors. You’ll see lots of love locks attached to bridge railings.

Huyen Khong Cave

This is the largest and most impressive cave in the mountains, and it is also a place of worship.

Tam Thai Pagoda

This is the oldest and most important pagoda in the mountains, and it is dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. 

The pagoda has a three-tiered structure, and it is decorated with colorful tiles, lanterns, and dragons. 

The pagoda also has a bell tower, a courtyard, and a garden, where you can see many bonsai trees and flowers. 

Xa Loi Tower

This is a seven-story tower that is located on the highest peak of the mountains, Thuy Son (water mountain).

These adorable, endangered primates, with their distinctive red legs and hands, are exclusive to Vietnam. Don’t miss the chance to snap a selfie with your new furry friends before they gracefully scamper up into the verdant canopy.
